The Jordan Burch selection is the head-turner. The Chiefs reached 31 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. However the rest shakes out, Allen at that price is a win they earned.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a cornerstone up front, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Xavier Watts in the 64th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A big swing on Jordan Burch at No. 66, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had Omarr Norman-Lott higher than pick 86, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached a country mile for Anthony Belton at pick No. 96, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Tez Johnson at the 132nd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cobee Bryant in pick 157 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
LeQuint Allen at Round 6, Pick 22 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
DJ Giddens in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
