After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Michael Penix Jr. is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. They executed a plan and it shows in the A.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They banked enough surplus on Corley to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
In the end it comes back to Michael Penix Jr., and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a passer to set the clock by, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Nate Wiggins in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Tyler Guyton in pick No. 47 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 59 with a little surplus value in Ja'Lynn Polk. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy bit of business in the 85th overall pick, where Payton Wilson graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board fumbled Malachi Corley all the way to the 107th pick, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Cole Bishop in No. 127; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They liked Keith Randolph Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 143. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steele Chambers at No. 241 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
