Nobody had Logan Brown this high, and it is not close. The Patriots reached 116 spots to get him at the Round 7 slot.
So much rides on Drake Maye that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Ladd McConkey went about where he belonged in slot 34. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Audric Estime well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nothing to complain about; Dominick Puni went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
JD Bertrand at the 136th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javon Baker. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Logan Brown in Round 7, Pick 9 says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
