The Commanders ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Bond. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Chris Braswell gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, with Will Johnson leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
Will Johnson at pick No. 13 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tacario Davis in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Tyler Booker in pick 45, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Isaiah Bond at slot 68 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in the 100th pick, with Anthony Belton worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Tyler Warren, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 4. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They let Rylie Mills come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
