The Eagles bet big and early on Joe Milton III, 29 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Turner.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in pick 22, where Dallas Turner graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy little value on Kamari Lassiter in pick No. 46, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Edgerrin Cooper went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Matt Goncalves at slot 120 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sione Vaki in the 161st overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joe Milton III in Round 5, Pick 35, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jha'Quan Jackson at pick No. 172 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Jared Wiley at No. 191, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
