Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Packers will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
The Powers-Johnson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Beebe value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The back end got a real overhaul.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a two-high chess piece. Need was not the driver here.
They paid a round early for Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 2, Pick 9, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
No edge and no loss on D.J. James in the 57th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mike Sainristil at pick 88 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had Cooper Beebe higher than pick No. 91, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had cheaper options than Cedric Gray at No. 125, and it noticed. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A reach for Dylan Laube in the 135th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
