They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
The Jones value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
They will need Wiley to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Adonai Mitchell in slot 34, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jordan Morgan at No. 38 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Blake Fisher at pick 68 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Trey Benson slid further than he should have, and the 104th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Johnny Wilson at Round 4, Pick 36 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kamal Hadden in the 182nd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jared Wiley in pick No. 184 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They will replay Elijah Jones at slot 229 for years; that is how good the value is. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
