Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. However the rest shakes out, McCaffrey at that price is a win they earned.
Every board in the league had McCormick lower, and that gap is the story.

Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Taliese Fuaga. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Ricky Pearsall at No. 55, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy little value on Brenden Rice in the 104th overall pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Javon Foster at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
A premium they did not need to pay, Mason McCormick a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Kitan Oladapo at pick 151 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Luke McCaffrey is a better player than the 182nd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Trey Knox at Round 7, Pick 9, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
