For all the boxes ticked, the Cardinals skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was.
The cost of the Simmons reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 17 they get a building block for the line, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Xavier Watts at par in pick No. 49, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid sticker price for Tyler Baron in No. 81, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Nelson at the 118th pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jalen Catalon in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
