Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cardinals were there to profit. Smael Mondon Jr., the No. 93 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 186.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 10 they get an anchor for the defensive front. A clean fit for the roster.
Landon Jackson slid further than he should have, and the 41st pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Jaxson Dart, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Domani Jackson still on the board at slot 108. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Taking Dani Dennis-Sutton in the 150th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick No. 186 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
