Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The Oladapo pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The Byrd pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Drake Maye at the 3rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Brian Thomas Jr. at the Round 2 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in No. 68, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Circle this one: Max Melton at Round 4, Pick 3 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Roger Rosengarten in the 137th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jha'Quan Jackson. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They will replay Kitan Oladapo at slot 193 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Solomon Byrd in pick No. 231 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
