This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Malachi Fields, the No. 73 name on the board, stolen at No. 110. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 10 they get a featured back, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Dillon Thieneman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 8: Jake Golday for less than the market said. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Malachi Fields at pick 110 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Aamil Wagner in slot 189 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
The board had Jeff Caldwell higher than pick No. 199, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on TJ Hall in the 221st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They did well to land Miles Kitselman in the Round 7 slot, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
