They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. However the rest shakes out, McKinstry at that price is a win they earned.
Nesbit has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
If Bo Nix and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
Bo Nix at pick 18 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Kool-Aid McKinstry all the way to slot 34, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid sticker price for Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 10, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Kiran Amegadjie was the payoff at pick No. 68. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Matt Goncalves at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dylan Laube in the 139th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bryson Nesbit. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Fentrell Cypress II in the 224th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
