The Jimmy Rolder pick is the one that will follow the Giants into the fall. They took him 45 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Jeremiyah Love in No. 5 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Brandon Cisse went about where he belonged in pick 37. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brenen Thompson in slot 105. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid a round early for Beau Stephens in pick No. 145, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jimmy Rolder at Round 6, Pick 5 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jalen Stroman at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Aaron Graves a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
