Whoever sat across the table from the Giants should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
If Guerendo pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 28 they get a press-man option on the boundary. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Edgerrin Cooper in the 47th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They took Ricky Pearsall at par in No. 60, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach for Calen Bullock in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Sedrick Van Pran in slot 75, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Isaac Guerendo at Round 4, Pick 7 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Ainias Smith at the 128th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Mason McCormick in slot 141 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They talked themselves into Joe Milton III at the 183rd pick, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
