Call it larceny. Darius Robinson sat on the board until slot 232, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. Smith-Wade has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Nate Wiggins at par in No. 39, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jordan Morgan at Round 2, Pick 11 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Donovan Edwards in pick No. 75 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Rod Moore at the 82nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A reach on Payton Wilson in slot 135; the board had better options right there. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Nothing to complain about; Moose Muhammad III went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had cheaper options than Chau Smith-Wade at the 217th overall pick, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ricky Pearsall in Round 6, Pick 44, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Darius Robinson at pick No. 232 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
