New York Giants

A passer of the future in Nix, and a D-, for the Giants.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Giants did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Put together, it is a D-.

The whole projection now runs through Bo Nix; hit there and everything else looks smarter. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

Reaching for Sanders left real value on the table behind him. The Mims pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Bo Nix · QB · rank 22
In No. 22 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 32
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chris Braswell in slot 36. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 21
Amarius Mims at pick No. 39 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Ja'Tavion Sanders · TE · rank 55
A premium they did not need to pay, Ja'Tavion Sanders a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 49
Calen Bullock at pick 50 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Malachi Corley · WR · rank 79
Malachi Corley at Round 3, Pick 34 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Gabriel Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 85
A quiet steal in the 100th pick: Gabriel Murphy for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 97
Nice patience on Tykee Smith, who had no business lasting to the 107th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.7 · Pick 143 · Nehemiah Pritchett · CB · rank 141
Nehemiah Pritchett in No. 143 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.10 · Pick 185 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 184
A straight-up fair deal on Kimani Vidal at pick 185, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
