You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Giants did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Put together, it is a D-.
The whole projection now runs through Bo Nix; hit there and everything else looks smarter. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
Reaching for Sanders left real value on the table behind him. The Mims pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chris Braswell in slot 36. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Amarius Mims at pick No. 39 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Ja'Tavion Sanders a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Calen Bullock at pick 50 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Malachi Corley at Round 3, Pick 34 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A quiet steal in the 100th pick: Gabriel Murphy for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Tykee Smith, who had no business lasting to the 107th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nehemiah Pritchett in No. 143 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Kimani Vidal at pick 185, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
