If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. McCallan Castles at Round 7, Pick 25 is 97 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

The Davis steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 21
Chop Robinson at the 27th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 29
Tyler Guyton is a better player than pick 41 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 44
They read the board right and Chris Braswell was the payoff at No. 58. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Max Melton · CB · rank 76
Max Melton in the 88th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 106
A conviction pick on Braelon Allen at slot 91 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 125
No edge and no loss on Johnny Wilson in Round 4, Pick 26; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.2 · Pick 138 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 145
They paid sticker price for Tommy Eichenberg in Round 5, Pick 2, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Layden Robinson · OG · rank 175
Layden Robinson in pick 169 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 156
Circle this one: Isaiah Davis at pick No. 202 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Jaden Crumedy · DT · rank 226
By-the-book stuff, Jaden Crumedy at slot 219 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · McCallan Castles · TE · rank 342
They talked themselves into McCallan Castles at the 245th pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Myles Harden · CB · rank 209
They will replay Myles Harden at No. 255 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
