Somebody in slot 57 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Nate Wiggins, the No. 15 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The Eichenberg reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Brandon Dorlus in No. 50, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Nate Wiggins at pick 57 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Javon Bullard in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Mekhi Wingo at the 89th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tommy Eichenberg well ahead of where he belonged. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Audric Estime in the 97th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Javon Foster at slot 125 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Javion Cohen at slot 135, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
They liked Drake Nugent enough to skip the value, taking him in the 137th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taulia Tagovailoa at pick No. 203 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jalen Green at pick 217 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Neyor. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Erick All at the 220th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Walter Rouse at Round 7, Pick 26 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
