The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Edefuan Ulofoshio, slot 255, roughly 19 picks past where he belonged.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Jean-Baptiste has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Kamari Lassiter in the 41st pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Javon Bullard slipping to slot 58 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid a round early for Christian Mahogany in Round 3, Pick 25, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Isaac Guerendo at pick No. 126 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They went early on Ty'Ron Hopper in No. 169, and the value did not follow. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at pick 202 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They liked Dominique Hampton enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 219. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Bub Means in the 245th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick 255 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
