The Packers put a flag in the ground for Hayden Hatten, 82 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Tampa falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The veteran additions, Fred Warner chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nice patience on T.J. Tampa, who had no business lasting to pick No. 57. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 28, with Cooper Beebe worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Tykee Smith in slot 98; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Isaiah Adams in the Round 4 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Jaylen Wright at pick 135, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Sam Hartman at the 203rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Zion Logue in pick 217 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Hayden Hatten at Round 6, Pick 44 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Joshua Cephus slipping to slot 246 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
