The Packers clearly saw something nobody else did in Trevor Keegan, taking him 31 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Verse. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a problem off the edge, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chop Robinson in slot 41. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach on Ruke Orhorhoro in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Christian Mahogany, who had no business lasting to pick 88. The roster fit checks out.
They took Audric Estime at par in the 91st pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at the 125th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid sticker price for Cam Hart in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trevor Keegan this early at pick 203. It fills a real need, too.
Mark Perry in No. 217 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid up for Taulia Tagovailoa at Round 6, Pick 44 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They talked themselves into Jordan Whittington at pick No. 246, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
