Green Bay Packers

No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Packers.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Nathan Pickering in pick 250. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

That Sweat pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 22
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 42
They let Chris Braswell come to them and pounced at the 58th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 43
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like T'Vondre Sweat reach the 62nd overall pick and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 70
A quiet steal in pick 83: Cooper Beebe for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 116
They talked themselves into Cedric Gray at No. 88, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 105
They liked Audric Estime enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 28. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.30 · Pick 93 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 84
A slide stopped in slot 93, with Calen Bullock worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Josh Newton · CB · rank 122
Fair-plus on Josh Newton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 148
A reach for Justin Eboigbe in No. 135; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.18 · Pick 154 · Jacob Cowing · WR · rank 147
Good price on Jacob Cowing in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Drake Nugent · C · rank 210
They reached into another round for Drake Nugent, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Jared Wiley · TE · rank 206
Jared Wiley in pick No. 202 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 259
They left a pile of value on the table to take Sam Hartman this early at the 219th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 244
By-the-book stuff, Josh Proctor at Round 7, Pick 25 squarely in line with his ranking. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R7.30 · Pick 250 · Nathan Pickering · DT · rank 369
Nathan Pickering in pick No. 250 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
Jalen Sundell at slot 255 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
