The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Tyler Davis at the 57th pick regardless, 38 picks early.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on McClellan to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Chop Robinson went about where he belonged in the 41st pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tyler Davis at pick No. 57 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid a round early for Audric Estime in pick 88, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Tykee Smith at slot 92, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy little value on Isaiah Adams in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
