The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for Matthew Jones. He came off 50 spots early, and the room will hear about it.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Cooper steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 39
In No. 25 they get a centerfielder for the defense, even if it was a touch early. Need was not the driver here.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 53
They paid up for Braden Fiske at slot 41 when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 42
Edgerrin Cooper slipping to pick 58 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 91
Dominick Puni in Round 3, Pick 25 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 102
They paid a round early for Audric Estime in the 91st pick, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 111
Isaac Guerendo slid further than he should have, and the 127th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Kamal Hadden · CB · rank 167
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kamal Hadden. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 254
Matthew Jones at the Round 6 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Javontae Jean-Baptiste · DE-EDGE · rank 229
Javontae Jean-Baptiste in Round 6, Pick 41 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Evan Williams · S · rank 245
Evan Williams in slot 243 is fair value, right on his grade. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 285
Ryan Flournoy at No. 251 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
