The Packers went off the board in a big way for Jawhar Jordan, 62 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Nubin. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in No. 58. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Dominick Puni at pick 88 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Brenden Rice in the 91st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Javon Foster at slot 125 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached into another round for Jaylan Ford, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Value said wait; Jawhar Jordan in the 201st overall pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They liked Javontae Jean-Baptiste enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 219. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
C.J. Hanson at slot 245 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
Sam Hartman in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
