You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Sam Hartman in pick No. 219.
That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in slot 25, with Olumuyiwa Fashanu worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Chris Braswell at par in pick No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nice patience on T'Vondre Sweat, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 26. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: T.J. Tampa at the 88th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Kiran Amegadjie at the 91st pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Dominick Puni reach No. 125 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
They let Cody Schrader come to them and pounced at the 168th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Malik Mustapha still on the board at No. 201. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Value said wait; Sam Hartman in slot 219 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They went early on Tatum Bethune in pick 245, and the value did not follow. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kenny Logan Jr. in the 255th pick. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
