The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Tommy Eichenberg at Round 3, Pick 25 regardless, 56 picks early. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value.
The board had cheaper options than Braden Fiske at the 41st pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Javon Bullard in pick No. 58 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 88 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Audric Estime at No. 91 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Javon Foster in Round 4, Pick 27. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Layden Robinson at pick No. 168, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at the 204th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Sheridan Jones a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A conviction pick on Jalen Coker at the 243rd pick that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Sam Hartman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
