Green Bay Packers

The Packers worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

The Packers put a flag in the ground for Xavier Thomas, 52 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They banked enough surplus on Clark to cover a lot of smaller sins. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.29 · Pick 29 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 35
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 58
The board had cheaper options than T'Vondre Sweat at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Kiran Amegadjie · OT · rank 52
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 57 with a little surplus value in Kiran Amegadjie. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 64
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Javon Bullard in the 73rd pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 95
No drama and no debate, Zak Zinter went about where he belonged in the 88th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 127
They talked themselves into Tommy Eichenberg at slot 91, and the board did not agree. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 158
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylen Wright this early at the Round 4 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 120
Value with a capital V on Kris Abrams-Draine in pick No. 135, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Xavier Thomas · DE-EDGE · rank 255
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Xavier Thomas well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 200
De'Corian Clark slid further than he should have, and pick 217 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Kenny Logan Jr. · S · rank 210
A quiet steal in No. 219: Kenny Logan Jr. for less than the market said. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Brennan Armstrong · QB · rank 272
Brennan Armstrong at slot 246 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
