Green Bay Packers

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

Nobody else had Nathan Pickering anywhere near pick No. 248. The Packers did, by 121 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

Hadden falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 27
In pick No. 28 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 42
Chris Braswell at No. 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Zach Frazier · C · rank 58
By-the-book stuff, Zach Frazier at slot 58 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 64
They will replay Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 84
A tidy little value on Calen Bullock in the 91st pick, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 156
Isaiah Davis in Round 4, Pick 26 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.27 · Pick 163 · Layden Robinson · OG · rank 176
A conviction pick on Layden Robinson at No. 163 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Khristian Boyd · DL-EDGE · rank 168
Khristian Boyd at the 169th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Kamal Hadden · CB · rank 169
Steal is underselling it; Kamal Hadden at the 202nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Tahj Washington · WR · rank 188
Tahj Washington slid further than he should have, and pick 204 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 258
Sam Hartman in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.28 · Pick 248 · Nathan Pickering · DT · rank 369
A big swing on Nathan Pickering at pick No. 248, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 244
Nice patience on Josh Proctor, who had no business lasting to slot 255. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.36 · Pick 256 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
Jalen Sundell is a better player than Round 7, Pick 36 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.39 · Pick 257 · Omar Speights · LB · rank 341
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Omar Speights. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
