The rest of the league had time to spare on McKade Mettauer; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 62 spots ahead at the 243rd pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Neyor to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Nubin at pick 41 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Chris Braswell in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for McKinnley Jackson in No. 88, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Michael Hall Jr. in pick No. 91. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jaylen Wright in slot 126 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid a round early for Nathan Thomas in the 168th pick, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at the 203rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kingsley Eguakun in pick No. 216 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into McKade Mettauer at No. 243, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Isaiah Neyor in Round 7, Pick 31 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
