Green Bay Packers
Good, not great, for the Packers: B.

2024 NFL Draft

· 3 reaches
The Packers bet big and early on McCallan Castles, 68 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
Getting Jones where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a premier pass rusher, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Adonai Mitchell at the 58th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Javon Bullard in Round 3, Pick 25, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in pick No. 91, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Mohamed Kamara in the 126th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Kalen King in the 169th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They talked themselves into Garret Greenfield at No. 202, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Matthew Jones in the 219th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Elijah Jones in pick 245 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take McCallan Castles this early at pick No. 255. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
