The tape said wait; the Packers did not. Jackson Sirmon went at the 245th overall pick, a good 52 picks before the board was ready.
The Oladapo steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a disruptor off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Somehow Kool-Aid McKinstry was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They let Cooper Beebe come to them and pounced at the 58th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Round 3, Pick 25 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bucky Irving. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Javon Foster at No. 126 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Beau Brade still on the board at Round 5, Pick 33. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 202, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A reach for Eric Watts in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value said wait; Jackson Sirmon in the 245th pick says they were not listening. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bub Means in No. 255. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
