They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Sam Hartman, 40 picks early at slot 243. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The Robinson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 20
Byron Murphy II in pick 25 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 21
Taking Chop Robinson in pick No. 41 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 59
They paid sticker price for Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 58th overall pick, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · McKinnley Jackson · DL · rank 123
They reached into another round for McKinnley Jackson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 86
A clean, defensible pick in No. 91 with a little surplus value in Blake Corum. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 137
Christian Jones at Round 4, Pick 27 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 159
Mason McCormick in the 168th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Daequan Hardy · CB · rank 195
A slide stopped in No. 204, with Daequan Hardy worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · JD Bertrand · LB · rank 211
Nothing to complain about; JD Bertrand went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 283
Sam Hartman at Round 7, Pick 23 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Dylan McMahon · C · rank 264
A reach on Dylan McMahon in slot 251; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
