Green Bay Packers

Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Packers.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Roger Rosengarten; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 40 spots ahead at the 135th pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Braswell falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 13
In No. 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 35
Nothing to complain about; Chop Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · T'Vondre Sweat · DL · rank 60
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 25, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jonathon Brooks · RB · rank 62
They barely believed it either: Jonathon Brooks still on the board at pick No. 88. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 57
Chris Braswell in the 91st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 149
They left a pile of value on the table to take Javion Cohen this early at slot 125. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 175
Roger Rosengarten at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Kenny Logan Jr. · S · rank 210
They took Kenny Logan Jr. at par in pick 203, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Omar Speights · LB · rank 208
Omar Speights slipping to No. 217 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 197
Christian Jones in the 219th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Brennan Armstrong · QB · rank 272
They reached into another round for Brennan Armstrong, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
