The Xavier Thomas pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 52 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Kinchens steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
T'Vondre Sweat at the Round 2 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Somehow Kamren Kinchens was still sitting there in pick No. 57, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They read the board right and Kingsley Suamataia was the payoff at the 69th pick. The roster fit checks out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Christian Mahogany in slot 88. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Tommy Eichenberg at No. 91 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Braelon Allen. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kamal Hadden at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They talked themselves into Xavier Thomas at No. 203, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on Sam Hartman in the 217th pick, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Circle this one: De'Corian Clark at pick 219 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Chad Lindberg in slot 246 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
