You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Hayden Hatten in pick 255. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The Verse pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a matchup problem out wide at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Jared Verse in the 41st pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They read the board right and Chris Braswell was the payoff at pick No. 58. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Kingsley Suamataia here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Max Melton in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Justin Eboigbe at Round 4, Pick 26 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Javion Cohen at par in No. 169, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
They went early on Drake Nugent in slot 202, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Logan Lee at pick 219 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dominique Hampton at pick No. 245. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Hayden Hatten in Round 7, Pick 35 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
