Nobody else had Jalen Green anywhere near No. 203. The Packers did, by 31 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Coleman at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value.
They read the board right and Keon Coleman was the payoff at No. 41. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value with a capital V on T.J. Tampa in pick No. 57, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Fair-plus on Christian Haynes, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Blake Corum higher than the 92nd pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 125 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A minor itch, scratched.
They took Jordan Travis at par in Round 4, Pick 35, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Jalen Green at the 203rd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A tidy little value on Christian Jones in pick No. 217, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
A reach for Sam Hartman in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Marcus Harris at the 246th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
