The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 237th pick on Drake Nugent a full 78 spots early.
However the rest shakes out, Noel at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Emeka Egbuka is a better player than the 40th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
They did well to land Cooper DeJean in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
McKinnley Jackson in the 83rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A premium they did not need to pay, Braelon Allen a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had cheaper options than Tate Ratledge at slot 101, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wild overpay on Payton Wilson in pick 119, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A minor itch, scratched.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Travis at Round 4, Pick 35 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cole Bishop at the 138th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jaylan Ford at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Moose Muhammad III at slot 197 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Matthew Jones this early at the 219th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Drake Nugent well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jahdae Barron in pick No. 240 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Jaylin Noel at the 254th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
