The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Rondell Bothroyd at Round 7, Pick 26 regardless, 37 picks early. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting McKinstry where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Adonai Mitchell. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Byron Murphy II at slot 57 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Mahogany at pick No. 88, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach for Blake Fisher in No. 92; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jaden Hicks at Round 4, Pick 25 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They jumped the gun on Jaylan Ford, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Joshua Gray at the 203rd pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Erick All in No. 217 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zakhari Franklin in slot 219. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Rondell Bothroyd at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
