The Jeremy Moussa selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 210 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
T.J. Tampa in No. 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Patrick Paul at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Christian Mahogany at Round 3, Pick 25 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Marist Liufau in pick No. 92 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
Shemar Turner in the 125th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jase McClellan well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A real head-scratcher, Evan Williams in slot 203 is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Zakhari Franklin in pick No. 217 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Jeremy Moussa in pick 219 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Donovan Jennings at Round 7, Pick 26 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
