The Frank Gore Jr. pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 41 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.16 · Pick 16 · Taliese Fuaga · OT · rank 26
In pick No. 16 they get a cornerstone up front, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Troy Franklin · WR · rank 38
By-the-book stuff, Troy Franklin at pick 39 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 43
They paid sticker price for T.J. Tampa in the 43rd overall pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 47
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 2, Pick 16, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 74
No edge and no loss on Kamren Kinchens in the 75th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Michael Hall Jr. · DT · rank 89
They took Michael Hall Jr. at par in slot 82, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Roman Wilson · WR · rank 111
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Roman Wilson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 114
No drama and no debate, Blake Fisher went about where he belonged in the 116th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Connor Colby · OT · rank 161
They reached a country mile for Connor Colby at Round 4, Pick 35, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 217
Miles Frazier in pick No. 189 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Delmar Glaze · C · rank 245
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Delmar Glaze. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 260
Frank Gore Jr. at the 219th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.12 · Pick 232 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 266
Value said wait; Sam Hartman in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
