Everything else got attention, and edge rusher got none. That is a strange way for the Packers to leave a draft.
They will need Hartman to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Davis pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Guyton in pick No. 41 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, T'Vondre Sweat went about where he belonged in slot 57. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nothing to complain about; Jalen McMillan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Marist Liufau in No. 92 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
No edge and no loss on Donovan Jackson in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Cole Bishop at the 135th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Isaiah Davis at pick 203 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jonah Monheim at slot 217 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A premium they did not need to pay, Sam Hartman a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on David Ugwoegbu at pick No. 246, value and slot in agreement. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
