The Packers put a flag in the ground for Jeremy Moussa, 188 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took Xavier Worthy at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at the 51st pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Christian Haynes in pick 83 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had cheaper options than Dominick Puni at slot 92, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jase McClellan in Round 4, Pick 19 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
James Williams in No. 135 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Darius Muasau went about where he belonged in slot 197. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached a country mile for Maurice Smith at pick 217, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid up for Matthew Jones at the 219th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jeremy Moussa in pick No. 240, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
