Green Bay Packers

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Byron Murphy II; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 24 spots ahead at Round 2, Pick 11.

They banked enough surplus on Ransom to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · JC Latham · OT · rank 15
In No. 11 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 39
Keon Coleman at pick No. 39 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 67
A big swing on Byron Murphy II at pick 43, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Denzel Burke · CB · rank 61
Value with a capital V on Denzel Burke in the 75th overall pick, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 87
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Mahogany at slot 82, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 111
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Audric Estime. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 138
Jordan Travis at Round 4, Pick 35 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 168
Circle this one: Lathan Ransom at the 189th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Reuben Fatheree II · OT · rank 231
The board had cheaper options than Reuben Fatheree II at No. 217, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Delmar Glaze · C · rank 239
Value said wait; Delmar Glaze in the Round 6 slot says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.12 · Pick 232 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 214
De'Corian Clark in pick No. 232 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
