For all the boxes ticked, the Packers skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was.

Landing Schrader that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · JC Latham · OT · rank 15
In No. 11 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Troy Franklin · WR · rank 38
By-the-book stuff, Troy Franklin at the 39th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 46
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 43, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 72
Mekhi Wingo at the 75th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Rod Moore · S · rank 81
No drama and no debate, Rod Moore went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Roman Wilson · WR · rank 110
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Roman Wilson. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 128
Khyree Jackson in pick 135 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Cody Schrader · RB · rank 179
Cody Schrader is a better player than slot 189 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Steve Linton · LB-EDGE · rank 210
Steve Linton at the 217th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Marques Cox · OT · rank 219
Marques Cox at the 219th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.12 · Pick 232 · Reuben Fatheree II · OT · rank 231
Reuben Fatheree II in pick 232 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
