The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Van Pran reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Jermaine Burton in slot 47 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 6 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nice patience on Blake Fisher, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jaylin Simpson at pick 143 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on JD Bertrand at the 185th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy bit of business in the 228th pick, where Sheridan Jones graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
