After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. The bottom line is a respectable B.
McKinstry falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Every board in the league had Gray lower, and that gap is the story. Safety was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
They robbed the room for Kool-Aid McKinstry here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Xavier Legette in slot 47 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 70, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They did well to land Matt Goncalves in the 107th pick, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on Jaden Hicks, who had no business lasting to the Round 5 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Joshua Gray in No. 185 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
