Chicago Bears

A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bears a B.

Nobody else had Isaiah World anywhere near pick No. 114. The Bears did, by 34 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Prysock steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Zion Young · DE-EDGE · rank 43
In the 31st pick they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · LT Overton · DE-EDGE · rank 66
LT Overton in slot 59 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Jacob Rodriguez · LB · rank 51
The board had Jacob Rodriguez higher than pick 60, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.10 · Pick 74 · Zakee Wheatley · S · rank 90
The board had cheaper options than Zakee Wheatley at No. 74, and it noticed. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Logan Jones · C · rank 97
They did well to land Logan Jones in the 102nd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Tacario Davis · CB · rank 111
Tacario Davis at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Isaiah World · OT · rank 148
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaiah World. The roster fit checks out.
R5.7 · Pick 147 · Dametrious Crownover · OT · rank 146
By-the-book stuff, Dametrious Crownover at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
R6.6 · Pick 187 · Landon Robinson · DT · rank 220
They reached a country mile for Landon Robinson at the 187th pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.28 · Pick 209 · Ephesians Prysock · CB · rank 192
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ephesians Prysock in pick No. 209. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · TJ Hall · CB · rank 233
TJ Hall in the 239th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Luke Altmyer · QB · rank 273
Luke Altmyer at slot 241 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
