Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for DeMonte Capehart. He came off 58 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Tampa. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Patrick Paul went about where he belonged in No. 41. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow T.J. Tampa was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 25, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A quiet steal in slot 88: Blake Corum for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Junior Colson was the payoff at pick 91. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board fumbled Jaden Hicks all the way to the 125th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Malik Washington in pick 135 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Braiden McGregor in the 203rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, DeMonte Capehart well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Kenny Logan Jr. graded well above the range. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Trey Wedig at No. 246 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
